Hume Vineyards: March 2011 Update

Hume Vineyards

Make Mine Virginia Wine

Hume Vineyards was kind enough to send out a March 2011 update and we wanted to share it with our friends. Please enjoy the update below and be sure to check-out Hume Vineyards.

New Wine Releases
It's official!  We have now released our 2010 Seyval Blanc and our 2010 Vidal Blanc.  The Seyval is a beautifully crisp, dry white with hints of apple and honeysuckle, while the Vidal is the new vintage of our incredibly popular off-dry white.  Early customer feedback on both of those are that they are "phenomenal".  In addition, we will be releasing our 2010 Chambourcin on March 12, 2011.  The Chambourcin is our own version of a WMD:  big, bold, and explosive.  Clocking in at 15.1% alcohol it's an amazingly full-bodied, lush wine bursting with concentrated flavors.  You won't want to miss this one.

Big Wins and Nice Accolades
We're not bashful at Hume Vineyards and like to brag a bit when we get some nice feedback.  Two of our wines distinguished themselves at the Virginia Wine Showcase held in Chantilly on February 12 and 13:  our 2009 Chambourcin won "Best Red Wine" of the show and our 2008 Detour was a finalist for "Best Overall" wine.  Over 300 Virginia wines from more than 40 wineries were entered so we're quite honored by the results. Additionally, our 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is featured in the current issue of Virginia Wine Lover Magazine, and our owner and winemaker, Stephane, was featured on the always entertaining and informative wine website at Swirl, Sip, Snark (www.swirlsipsnark.com).

Light Fare to Go with Our Wines
Because wine is meant to be paired with food, starting March 12 we will be offering light fare at the winery.  This will include cold cuts, chacuterie, cheeses and other goodies available for purchase in the tasting room.  In addition, starting in April, we will occasionally be featuring local barbecue slow cooked on the premises.  So stay tuned for specific dates and be ready to enjoy a nice pairing of salami and Merlot on our large covered porch overlooking the new Sauvignon Blanc vineyard.

We Need Your (Paid) Help in the Tasting Room
Thanks to all of you and to the great feedback we are receiving from various outlets, the secret is out on Hume Vineyards.  To accomodate our growth and ensure that you all receive the service and experience you have come to expect when you visit us, we are looking for a few good women and men to work in our tasting room on the weekend.  If you are interested in working at least one weekend a month at the winery (and possibly more) send us an email at info@humevineyards.com.  We'd love to talk to you!
